Amy’s Surgery – A Request for Prayer

Tomorrow, June 26, 2025, my wife Amy is scheduled to undergo a liver transplant at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Over the past several years, Amy has quietly and courageously battled Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)—a rare autoimmune disease that gradually damages the liver’s bile ducts, leading to liver failure. In recent months, her health has rapidly declined, and after much prayer, consultation, and waiting, we received word that a living donor has been approved.

We do not know who the donor is. The process is anonymous. But we are deeply moved and profoundly thankful for this person’s selfless and sacrificial gift. While they remain unknown to us, God knows them fully, and we have been—and will continue to be—lifting them up in prayer.

Amy’s surgery is expected to last around 12 hours, and recovery will be a long road. In the days ahead, we ask for your prayers:

  • For a successful transplant
  • For protection and wisdom for the surgical team
  • For Amy’s body to accept the new liver
  • For healing and strength for the donor
  • For peace, endurance, and faith for our family as we walk through recovery

I will continue to post updates here on this blog in the coming days and weeks as we learn more and celebrate God’s faithfulness along the way.

We are clinging to the promises of God and trusting Him every step of the way. Thank you for your continued support, prayers, and love.

In Christ,
James

“Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” – Psalm 33:22
