We received a call from the hospital this afternoon. Amy needs to be readmitted.
Her latest bloodwork showed concerning elevations in her bile numbers, which likely point to the bile duct stricture the doctors had mentioned as a possible complication. After reviewing the labs and imaging, the team has decided to move forward with a procedure tomorrow to address the issue.
While this is a discouraging development, it is not an uncommon one for liver transplant patients. We were informed early on that many recipients encounter challenges, especially during the first few weeks. The care team continues to be proactive and thorough, and we’re thankful for their vigilance.
As always, we sincerely appreciate your prayers. Please join us in asking the Lord for a successful procedure tomorrow, for wisdom and precision for the surgical team, and for full healing for Amy’s liver and biliary system.
We also continue to pray for the donor’s healing and recovery. Their selfless act is never far from our minds, and we remain grateful every day for this gift of life.
With gratitude and hope,
James
